Think different, drink different, drink local – Hive to Glass
About Our Mead
At Homestead 1870, every bottle begins with raw, unfiltered spring wildflower honey — gathered by our bees from the trees and blossoms that define Virginia’s early season. They forage among tulip poplar, black locust, wild cherry, and basswood, producing a honey that’s floral, fragrant, and alive with the taste of place. Because we never filter or heat it, the honey keeps its full character — every hint of bloom, every trace of the wild.\
What Is Mead
Mead is one of the world’s oldest fermented drinks — a simple, natural combination of honey, water, and yeast.
At Homestead 1870, we honor that simplicity. Each small batch is fermented carefully, allowing the honey’s true flavor to shape the result. There are no shortcuts — just raw honey transformed by time.
