babassu oil

Babassu oil is a lightweight, deeply nourishing oil pressed from the kernels of the Babassu palm. Similar to coconut and palm kernel oil in its fatty-acid profile, babassu is rich in lauric and myristic acids, which give cold process soap excellent cleansing power, a fluffy lather, and a firm, long-lasting bar.

Unlike heavier oils, babassu melts quickly on contact with the skin and absorbs cleanly, leaving a soft, silky finish without any greasiness. This makes it especially beneficial for people who want a bar that cleans well but still feels gentle and hydrating.

Benefits of Babassu Oil in Soap

• Lightweight conditioning
Babassu feels lighter on the skin than coconut oil, making the bar feel balanced, smooth, and soothing.

• Rich in lauric & myristic acids
These fatty acids provide cleansing, lather, and bar hardness — essential qualities for a stable cold process soap.

• Enhances lather quality
Babassu oil helps create thick, bubbly, stable lather, especially when paired with conditioning oils like olive and cocoa butter.

• Melts easily at skin temperature
Its naturally low melting point creates a gentle, emollient feel that helps the skin stay soft and moisturized after washing.
